The Web USED to be a place where people got together for the free exchange
of information and the sharing of common hobbies, idea's and objectives.

Now everyone want's to become a millionaire by selling advertising.

I tend to visit sites that are more old-school.  I don't mind banner ad's in
the least, but this "push it in their face until they cry uncle" horseshit
just doesn't cut it with me.  To me, it's the same as that bozo that calls
you at home in the middle of dinner, wanting to pedal life insurance or
something.

Waugh.  That program is like killing mosquitos with a bazooka.  I did
actually use it for a while; it's better than nothing, but having to
play the "control key" game whenever I launch a new IE window got very
annoying (almost as annoying as the popups :)  In addition, the popups
still were created; PopupStopper just closed them quickly (so they were
still distracting).

I now push Proxomitron (http://www.spamblocked.com/proxomitron/download.html)
It takes a small bit of configuring (and blocks way too many things by
default), but it's extremely powerful and very "forget it's even
running" once it's configured properly.

Yes I meant the Ctrl Key %-)
but I've never had a problem with it and found it easy to use.I can,if
I wish, assign the Ctrl key to my middle mouse button :O)

Not our problem.  The web used to be about the *free* exchange of
information.  Non-intrusive banner ads are ok if you need some income,
but these commercial bastards trying to ***all us for $$ are full of
shit.

And people wonder why there are so many anti-capitalists around!  :-)

I'd offer up my opinion on this, but I think I'll behave like you
leeches & charge you for it instead.  Isn't capitalism grand...

Your opinion has to be worth something for you to be able to charge us.

Just like the information sought after on the web, you'll only find out
once I get paid.

It probably depends on how many IE windows you tend to open.  My taskbar
is typically littered with at least a dozen.

Then it's simple - start your own website! What's the problem?

Oh, you can't afford the time?  You don't have the resources?  You feel
others should sacrifice their time and effort to maintain a website and pay
for the bandwidth, just not you?

What really annoys me is sites using Java script to launch new windows when
you wanna view screenshots etc - I use ad and script blocking software which
means none of these stupid javascript using sites actually work by
default.... There's no need for javascript to view god damn full size pics
from thumbnails!!
