3dfx problem

by David Bowke » Tue, 16 Jun 1998 04:00:00

I have got a Diamond Monster 3D card, and every time I try to play a 3dfx
game it locks up my system. I have an Aptiva with 48megs of RAM and 166 CPU.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any help,

Check to see if your Aptiva has an S3 chipset for 2D video. If it does you
should download a small program called s3fix.exe from http://www.3dfx.com
and enter a call to it from your autoexec.bat.

There are about ten million possible causes here. I had the same
problem, and tried almost everything possible. Then I turned of my
screensaver, and... no more*** of the system.
Don't know if it helps for you, but you know, computers are completely
unpredictable.

Try everything.  If it all fails, you may need to upgrade
your ROM.  My motherboard didn't have an ROM upgrade, so I
get a new motherboard, and the 3DFX worked.  I hope you don't
need to do that.
