When I figure out how to race with 30 racing buddies throughout
North America with N2 on a network I'll be doing just that. One
league on Hawaii is all I've got the spare time for these days anyway.
I would spend some time preparing for the NROS too but real life
just robs all of my time :-(

Dana I have ran in many Leagues I have finished in the top five in everyone
I have ran in.I only run Hawaii on Sundays which is the night of my own
league (UHL).Which I'm in the top 5 in points in and my teammate is in the
points lead.I might run maybe 1 other night a week on occasions and the
reason is because I enjoy racing against other people and racing on Kali
sucks and I hate racing the AI cars because it is so easy to beat them even
at 101% and higher.I also am working on N2 setups with my teammate
Smokkinuwe prac.N2 about 3 nights a week.I also play Command & Conquer Red
Alert on TEN just about every night which I'm Ranked in the top 80 out of
1000's of people. My phone bill average about 150 to 200 dollars.

Real life does suck sometimes. :(  You have 30 buddies all over North
America who you race with?  Wow, you must get around.  I don't even know
30 people who play Nascar, let alone all over North America.  I've run 2
leagues on Hawaii and I don't think I could name 20 people who I would
want to race with all the time.

I know Hawaii is cool but you really should try setting up a network
race.  It is much easier than you think.  Having all the racers in one
location does alot to add to the e***ment.  If your 30 friends quit
racing on Hawaii and ran network tournaments instead you guys could have
pretty good prize money with the savings.

Yeah, it would be cool to run with a bunch of guys at the same location.
You could deal with incidents directly ;-)

Actually, I met the guys I was referring to on Hawaii. I've only met one
face to face but I consider them all friends just the same (that's not to
say what they consider me<G>). There's alot of nice guys running on Hawaii
still (alot more than 30). It's funny when you finally see a picture of a
guy you've been racing with a while. They are always totally different than
your mind's eye view.

Hey Dana,

What about this setup, I have the network with 3 computers ready to
go, but I don't know a single person within 100 miles of my house that
plays Nascar2 seriously. I know a few guys that play for fun and never
use a setup other than "easy".  So, in my position, I do have more fun
on Hawaii than I would racing locally on my network.

Now, if I *did* know of some locals that were serious about it, I
would not see me on Hawaii. But, no such luck so far :>

Well Dana i have run in a couple leagues on Hawaii and i can name 30
guys that i would like to race with and i can even give you there first
names and maybe a half dozen or so phone numbers of them that i talk to
on a regular basis and they are all oover the US and even in Canada.
Maybe you just dont enjoy the added competiton and 8 is enough for you
to keep up with.Only you know the answer.

One of the reasons I quit running on Hawaii was the last league I ran
in(IVGA Gold Team League) I was pretty much disgusted with the poor
sportmanship shown by people late in the season.  They were out of
contention and had nothing to lose so they often drove a bit too
aggresively.  I was actually never quite impressed with the level of
competition when I considered the limited amount of time I had prepared
for races.  I know there are some great competitors on Hawaii but I
still think they are few and far between.  I just couldn't justify the
cost any longer.  Enjoyment levels as you know were never an issue.

The only problem I have now with network racing is the lack of
competition.  I have run great league races on Hawaii with less than 8
people and I rarely ran races with more than 15 or 20 so that isn't the
problem.  What league do you run in that has 30 car fields anyways?

Dana I ,my brother and Mike Lentz run a League called HTS and we dont
have 30 car feilds but we were at 20+ for awhile We do have at least 16
guys every week that show up.We have ,at least i Feel some of the Best
guys on hawaii racing with us with the likes Of Marshall Kroft,Mike
Lentz,Bruce Geisking.I consider myself a good competiter though i am not
up to these guys standardes yet.I guess if i raced under the
circumstances you say then i would find it not appealing also but we try
to find a good group of guys that are curtious and clean.I do understand
where you are coming from but just wanted to say if you look you can
find good sound and competitive drivers still on Hawaii.

We've had 10 races in the HAL3 season so far. Every race has had more
than 30 drivers. Because HAL has more active drivers than some tracks
allow, drivers have been bumped (using a participation points system)
from some of the races. Usually it works out because it seems there are
always one or two guys that can't make it.

Thanks to Brian Tate's efforts, we all run in our own cars too. It's
kinda neat when you get used to what the guys cars look like.

BTW, 30+ cars racing on Hawaii can get pretty crazy regardless of how
careful the guys are. It's like nite and day comparing it to a league I
ran in that had 13-17 cars. My traffic skills are improving faster then
my lap times these days... I think<G>

Damn, that's a bummer.  Where are you located?  I usually don't have to
try too hard to get racers.  Most even bring there own hardware.

I'm not looking because I don't want to spend the money anymore to fund
Papyrus' beta testing.  My goal was to get some experience with on-line
racing and gauge my competitiveness against the other drivers.  When the
NRO starts I will be back on-line.  I never said there weren't good
drivers on Hawaii, I said it sounded like the majority of remaining
drivers were whining novices always complaining about cheating here.

No kidding. Try starting a full field at Martinsville or Bristol.
Unfortunately, the aggression levels tend to go up at the back of the
field, because no one wants to get caught by the leaders and go down a lap.
