Does anyone know if there is any chance of this? The menu thing seems
such a small bug, and the OpenGL patch looks SOOOO much nicer (on my
GF3 anyway). I would have thought that something like George Smiley's
3DFX fix would be able to be implemented on the OpenGL patch. Like
running the menus in the same res as on the track.

I'd consider such a task myself if I had any idea of what I was doing
:)

Do you have the mirror problem? My mirrors were in slow motion. Maybe I need
to change the framerate for the mirrors in the core.ini?

wish someone would fix this...I posted at sierra's forums and it looks like
gpl support from the company is over. Would have to be a private party to
come up with the fix.

Ah, but there never was any: It was all unofficial "beta" releases. And the
new F1 2001 update is "beta". My prediction is that before long, even the
original games as sold over the counter will be "beta" which will get rid
of that annoying support commitment once and for all... :)

If your mirrors are in slow-mo then this is the setting in core.ini.
Change the "mirror update every..." setting to 1 for full frame rate,
2 for every second frame, etc.

True, but at least DK and others at Papy were good enough to give us
the D3D and openGL patches. Just seems such a shame that such great
tracks, addon graphic updates and the like are available, yet we still
use D3D, only because it works. OpenGL is so much nicer, if only you
could SEE what you were clicking in the menus :)

Take a look at
http://www.simracingmag.com/articles/hardware/01q2/gf3_10.shtml if you
don't know what I mean :)

Obviously it would need to be a 3rd party patch, but this was done
with the 3DFX drivers, so not insurmountable.

Hi Rafe,

the second D3D patch upped the graphics qual so substantially that I don't
miss OGL. It would perhaps be a little better still, but not sufficiently
much to justify a lot of work on that rasteriser, IMHO

Yeah, I just grabbed the opportunity to go into irony mode. It's just sort
of funny that these beta patches often are the result of guys working above
and beyond the call of duty, and often for their own enjoyment -- which is
why they are often more stable than "commercial" versions... :)

All I can say is WOW!!!!!

I had no idea there was a second version of the D3D rasteriser, I've
been using the old one since I got my new GF3. I've looked at papy's
d/l site before, but didn't realise that the size was different to the
old one. a quick D/L and GPL is a whole lot better!

Thanks for mentioning it, bit of a fluke that i didn't know but I'm
happy now !!! :D To all the programmers who were lining up to update
the openGL patch for me: Thanks for your work, but all is better
now :)
