RASCAR: how did the races go this weekend?

by btgos » Wed, 15 May 2002 02:05:19

From the results things looked ok for the first race, and then really good
for the second race.
I was all pumped up about racing this weekend, and then my computer took a
dive, but would love to see a race report or replay.
Also, what track are we running this weekend. I am going to make this race,
even if I have to buy a enw computer.

well,  chicago was a yellow fest.... kansas went pretty well and was
clean.....  the most fun was when i was following Elrikk and waiting for the
exact moment to pass him.....

i'm thinking i shouldn't be so conservative at the start..... seem to lose
many positions even if nobody runs over me.... maybe i'm taking the
suggestion, just drive on the first lap to sort and race the rest more
seriously than anybody around?

well,,, no official on eldred's server race this week, off to loudena and
where? next week.....

all i really know------i'm having fun and hope i'm not wearing folk out with
my ahem...... cents a hyumore.

cya,

rob

RASCAR: how did the races go this weekend?

First race was okey - but had too many yellows....
2nd race was a blast with green-flag pitting and guys choosing completely
different strategies.   Almost the entire field pitted on the first caution
whilch occured after 17 laps when Dave's screen frooze...

Then we had a  a  second yellow  a second yellow 5-10 laps later,  that
which occured when I warped into Luke (on his computer) as we raced side by
side thru the 'dog-leg'.. This time I was the only one of the top 5 that
pitted, except for Luke who suffered damage from the crash... :-(

Anyway as the green flag fell again - i was now at the back of the field and
I felt sure I was in a real good posistion - with fresher tires than the
rest :-)
I decided upon trying to take things easy as I had a feeling it would be few
yellows in the race...  I slowly worked my way forward thru the field and as
the others started too loose their tires I could gain time and posistion..
Closest i came was within 2.1 sec of the leader, but then I too started to
loose grip.

Mike and Ian pitted before me and as I got by Ginger for second spot I was
confident that things looked good!  Sadly with only 13 or so laps left my
crewchief told me the tires were going down and upon inspection the RF was
downinto the red...
Thinking I had couldnt make it to the line like this, I pitted wiin a lap or
so...  In hindsight - I'm not sure that was the right thing to do...
Perhaps I could have nursed it home anyway..

I think I only took 2 tires during my stop and when I rejoined again I found
myself a lap down and in 8th posistion...  a frantic run at the end saw most
of us who pitted unlap ourself (We were basicly 3 seconds or so faster then
the other guys who had stayed out)

I ended up in 8th. as both Krol, "Tallitch" and Farmer somehow managed to
keep their tires intact and make it thru the distance.  Well raced guys!

All in all I would say that the second race was very good.
I also think we would have been better off running Kansas first this time as
the track/setup was much more forgiving and stable than at Chicagoland.

Can't wait to race again this weekend...  (what tracks?)

Tire wear is a pain in the a** in N2002. :-)

I didn't change tires during the whole Chicago race. I was in second behind
Mr. Grandy and was able to pull away from the field a bit even up until the
yellow came out with ten laps to go. Thought my tires would be ok on the
restart even though the RF was in the yellow. Apparently I was wrong because
when the green flag came out with six to go I got swamped by four or five of
you.

I gambled and lost with tires, just like I gambled and lost with fuel during
the California RASCAR race where I ran out with half a lap to go while in
first. :-o

jeez,

i guess i'm the one that's senile.  i can actually picture the post in my
head...... something like "i'm not going to be there blah blaha and the next
week nhis and something." and others started begging for road trax or
repeats since eldred wouldn't be there.

now, after 2 hours of combing through (almost) every post on this ng, i sure
can't find it.

so,,,, i guess i'm the one that's senile.

REMEMBER!  anything that idiot rob says is suspect.

funny, i never questioned my sanity when i only conversed with myself.
