Well said Mac! Both you and I know that Tom would give the shirt off his
back to help with Racing/Sim Racing if at all possible.
And to Gavel and Gerry (Gerry, I guess you were included because you didn't
put a smiley in you Schumacher comment) :-o
My response is to Gavel!
Lets reconstruct this first.
Tom puts up a post about the Sounds and Graphics in N2002. He praises Papy
for the job they did with Sounds, Track config ,WC garages and so forth
but...mentions the problems that he sees with the graphical representation
of the rest of Sears Point and mentions that others that are involved with
Sears Point were upset with this also. (more Facts!)
now Gavels reply:
Quote "LMAO, Frank.
The " Legend in his own mind" is at it again. I like the " and how"
part. That I'd like to see, in code, his own. :)
Btw, there aren't 'hundreds" of sim racing Sears Point employees. You'd
be hard pressed to find a hundred sim racers in Northern California, period.
LOL.
As for the name dropping, it's par for the course and quite arguably the
reason for the post in the first place. It's good humor, reminds me of Ted
Knight in that old 70's sitcom."
Then it is pointed out by Mac that there is way more than 100's of
employees(Fact!) and that there is easily more then hundreds of us Sim
Racers in Northern Calif.(another Fact!)
Then you rant about name dropping when Tom is only stating the truth about
what he knows.
BTW Knowing Bob Davis (Sears Point's Chief Architect), I can see him saying
that N2002 is good but damn they have the graphics wrong again!
oops, I name dropped....sorry <g>
You then reply to Mac:
Quote " Go ahead, be tired.
Pabst regularly inserts himself into a sim history past he was really
never part of. Those of us who have been here for a considerably longer
time than three years object to his acting regularly as if he were some
seminal part of sim racing development. He wasn't, ever.
I might point out that neither were most of us but the difference is that
we don't make up stories of our involvement in sim racing. The truth has
value.
He makes stuff up.
I point it out.
So you like the parties he throws. Good. Big deal.
There's a ton of ways to gain credibility here and anywhere else. A little
humility and the truth pretty much covers the basics.
Finally, I take what I give."
Now the question I have is what in the hell does this have to do with
sounds or track graphics at Sears?
Seems that you have some problem with Tom posting anything, and if that is
so....Killfile Dude!
Now, Knowing Tom, (dang there I go name dropping again) I remember LMAO
while reading that Alien/Insect post that Tom made but, I did think he
should have put in some :-)'s and ;-)'s
I UNDERSTAND WHY NOW!
You see, Tom has "Pit in" and "Pit out" and other stickers on top of certain
keys on his keyboard. So, to fix this I will go to his house soon and will
install a patch to automatically insert :-)'s and ;-) in all of his future
R.A.S posts.
In the meantime! Ymenard, do you think you can stop yawning long enough to
write up a R.A.S posting procedure that states that name dropping is
forbidden?
I would like to close by thanking people like Tom, that have put so much
effort into getting Real Racing and Sim Racing closer together.
It is so nice to talk with real racers about sim racing and you know what?
They don't laugh anymore like they did a few years ago.
Tom, I tip my hat to you!
