LFS S1:MRT5 is a rather interesting little addition

I've not touched LFS for a long time... too much online trauma, needed to
forget :-) But I just reinstalled S1, patched it up to date, and
discovered the MRT5 "go kart thing". Doesn't go particularly fast, but it
feels like it because most blades of grass are higher off the ground than
you are. Accelerates & brakes frighteningly fast and handles in a way
which feels much more like GPL-like than the LX beasts. Maybe that's cos
they're rear engined, light weight, not a lot of downforce vehicles. Who'd
have guessed it ;-)

Anyway, if anyone else has been ignoring S1 for a while it's worth having
a look at this vehicle. I'd have enjoyed it even more if I hadn't had to
re-earn the 450 points you need to drive it! New there was a reason not to
vape it when I changed HDs.

I agree! It's also great fun racing these little ***s online. Watch
out for the lack of a reverse gear though, makes it difficult to
recover from tome driving errors ;-)

I bet it is. I may even venture online and see how many ***agers I can
get angry with before I give up LFS again :-)

I discovered that very quickly. Seems to me it would do no harm to
gameplay to have a reverse gear, even if it's not realistic. In real life
you could get out, sling the kart over your shoulder, walk back onto the
track, and get going again (ok, after a quick trip to hospital to have
your hernia repaired). But I guess the recovery button does that job.

PS I'd like to apologise (mainly to my old school English teacher) for
writing...

New? <shakes head>. *Knew*.

I've had lots of good clean racing with the MRT5 online. You occasionally
get a few muppets joining, but they're easily kicked or banned from the
server with a vote.

I suppose the chances of being whiplashed by an eager muppet are a lot
slimmer when the vehicle's so small :-)

I wouldn't bet on it <G>

Just don't join a race that has bigger cars in or you'll get crushed :)

Happens to me all the time, Andy. Ok, I'm not a "native" speaker, but
when I was younger I never made those really stupid spelling
errors. It helps when I really *concentrate* while typing, but after
14+ years at a keyboard it sure isn't easy ;-)

All the best,

Which is why it's so frustrating that I can't even manage to speak & type
*one* language properly. The worrying thing is that since I turned 40 it
seems to happen all the time. Not a good sign. Better book my place on the
Alzheimer's ward soon ;-)

It's an honour for me to share dysfunctional spelling with native
speakers, though ;-) I mean, how could a german mix up "to" and "two",
or even "new" and "knew"? Ain't I supposed to do a translation in my
head while typing? Maybe not, it seems like after 20+ years of
learning / speaking / reading / writing english it's become part of my
neuronal network or whatever ;}

Let's found "ASPIR", or "anonymous spelling idiots of RAS" and hand
out a monthly prize for the member accomplishing most of the above
errors ;-)

All the best,

A native English speaker, I studied German at university
24 years ago and I STILL write "sch" in place of "sh" on occasion
in English, because of this early tramatic experience ;)

Uwe, don't worry about it.  Your English writings are much better than most of
us trying to write in German...

I think we all tend to take things we were given for granted. Stuff we

Well c'mon Eldred, even Americans speak two languages at least.

When the other car JUST misses you, you say

"Whew! That was darn close!"            (= in English)

When the other car JUST nips you and you go flying into the scenery, you say

universal language).

We all understand what it says, even when we might differ slightly over
syntax and pronounciation.

See?             :)
