Just curious...

If someone tweaks the DRIVERS2.TXT file for a track like Talledega on their
machine will Hawaii use it or does Hawaii dynamically replace it with an
unmodified version when running a race?

It would seem that the obvious answer is that DRIVERS2.TXT contains data
for varying how the different AI drivers compete.  While we could argue
about the intelligence of the drivers on Hawaii, we probably agree that
they are far from "artificial".

The less obvious answer is what about your own entry in that file?  I'm
sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think that
the power, drag, aggression, and traction numbers for the human entry
had any effect on our performance.

Furthermore, in a modem race, the answering machine would be in charge
and that would seem to indicate that the servers on Hawaii are probably
in charge as well.

Brad

My modem racing partner likes to run Talladega w/o restrictor plates so I
have that text file altered.  One time I tried to run at Talladega on
Hawaii and as soon as the race started and NRP loaded it immediately booted
me back to the schedular with an "Invalid Text File" message. :-).  So keep
a back up if you change any of them and restore the backups before you
Hawaii it. :-).

That seems to indicate that if you tweak the file locally on your system Hawaii
will pick it up and bounce you out.  Good stuff!
