looking for a program or viewer for nascar 2 files
thanks
Me also! I know there are people with these utilities out there who will
not share them..whats the big deal??? They are ONLY utilities...they are
worthless if you dont know how to use them..guess I wont share my cars or
anything from now on..these guys want to "corner" the Nascar2 addon market
or something...more concerned with their personal sites and awards than
helping expand the addons for this great game.. the more guys working on
editing/etc the faster and BETTER we can make new tracks and cars for
EVERYONE..but I guess you guys love all the credit...I just want to make my
personal game more enjoyable thats all....thanks alot!!!! Chuck
I would also like the utility. Then maybe I can contribute something for
a change. I've used so many cars and utilities, I would like to give
something back. If I had the utility, then I could create my own tracks
and share them with everyone. Just my two cents worth. Thanks for listening.

Hi Chuck,
This has been gone over countless times (and no-doubt countless
more<g>)...Hopefully, this will shed some light to both your
question(s) here, as well as the e-mail you sent.
While I aggree the files should be made "public", there are still
problems with copyright infringement. Having these utilities
available would be opening a Pandora's box of problems, and
would most likely come under fire by both the software
manufacturers, as well as track owners, etc.
IMHO, most of the people here are responsible enough not to
tread into forbidden territory, however there are those that don't
give a rat's-ass about what happens down the road. For this
reason, some of those who have the utilities you mention hang-on
to them to keep them from the bozo's, rather than merely exclude
you from joining in on the fun. You're obviously not the bad guy,
but because someone screws with copyrights, they're essentially
screwing you too.
Don't blame the sites that have the tools and use them responsibly;
instead blame those who throw caution to the wind, only to ruin it
for for the rest of us. These are the sites that while not directly
responsible for Daytona, Indy, et al not being in the various sims,
are contributors to the problem at hand.
True, there are probably those that have these tools and use them
for their own gain, but most sites I know of use these to enhance
your enjoyment...However, until everyone were to abide by a
more honorable code of conduct, the likelyhood of these tools
showing up for mass-download is unlikely.
Keep the Faith,

Money is the only reason these sims are not in the game. No if and's or
buts. Papyrus didn't have enough to spend to get the rights to these
tracks.

However, IMS is an entirely different story; as I understand, it wasn't
so much money, as it was ridiculous terms IMS was demanding that
scuttled the Indy deal. (Vintage Tony George really...)
"Announcing the Brickyard 400; also included a couple other lesser
tracks, and a NASCAR simulator..." :-)
At this rate, how long until the May IRL event is the "Minute of May"?
They've already punted on the "Month of"...

Well I was 50% right Jim, and I am not surprised by the IMS situation. I
still don't believe hacking the tracks had anything to do with why they are
not available.

They do, it's called HEX Editing and you have to learn how to do it, as
well as many other things. People just can't make a utility like this.
Hell, most people haven't even figured out everything yet.
If you want to edit tracks learn it for yourself.

3do23dv, and 3doedit. Hex...what's this hex? ;)
True...I think all those *outside* Papyrus haven't figured
everything out yet.
...but we're looking into it. ;)
