The British newspaper Motoring news gave some more information about
Villeneuve and GP2 in todays issue. It said that Villeneuve had been
introduced to GP2 by Mika Salo at the German Grand Prix and is quoted as
saying:-
"Listen, I know it`s childish and funny, but I`ve been using it for the
last 3 Grand Prix.... Mika recommended it to me, and said that`s what he
did. I s***ed and suggested he didn`t let the press know that. But
it`s true. The circuits are so realistic, amazingly close to what
they`re really like, and so are the cars. It helps you learn the
differences between variuos corners. Not in terms of speed, of course,
but visually it helps you to know where you are on the circuit. You know
in your mind whether your`e coming into a long corner, a tight corner or
whatever.
"I`ve been using it since Hockenheim, and within 10 laps I felt at
home. The same in Hungary. I thought it was a joke, tried it for myself
and found that it really is a help"
There is no information about his setups, but the references to 18th is
where he usually finishes, not qualifies. Anyone wishing to read the
whole article can find Motoring News at most newsagents, it costs 1
pound, and is a very reliable source of info on all forms of motorsport.
