Jacques Villeneuve plays GP2?

by Tero Multamak » Mon, 26 Aug 1996 04:00:00

Heard on the radio: Villeneuve practised the Spa-Francorchamps circuit
with a computer game. He had been 18th in the race. (Remember, it was
his first time on the track:)

Now this raises questions: was he playing GP2 and if so, with what;
keyboard, joystick or was a Williams converted into a real-as-life
simulator?

Some F1 magazine should write a story about drivers practising this way.
Hey, what would be better publicity for makers of racing simulators!

Anyone have more info about this?

Tero,
        I watched the Belgium race on ESPN2 today and they mentioned at least
twice that Villeneuve used a computer game to practice/learn the Spa circuit.
They did not however mention which computer game (although I would have to
think it is GP2).  You are right, what better way to advertise your simulation then
that a world class driver used it and finished 2nd in is first race at the circuit.
