Hey, on GPL Rank, I saw the Saint Eldred's cup and clicked on it. Then I
noticed I'm 8th out of 218 people! Cool! But why? I'm like 430th overall or
something like that, so why am I 8th here? Why isn't everyone else in it?

Hmmm maybe you should read back through the newsgroup a bit.

The Eldred Cup is the backmarker index, if your in there, your a backmarker.

Sorry, I've been busy with real races for a while and looked through the
newsgroup, but couldn't find what it was. My dad crashed his car, blew his
turbo, and dropped 2 cylanders. So I help him fix it too, plus, I had 6
hours of B-ball camp this week. No time to keep up with everything

Well, in a nutshell, the newsgroup regulars are trying to help Eldred
Pickett get faster. So when Eldred got vocal about dropping down GPLRank
there were those who started comparing themselves to him, so eventually the
idea for an "Eldred"-rank, a rank with Eldred's total time as a benchmark,
was brought up and implemented. -All in good humour, of course.
