Drivers:

Subject:  LEGAL QUALIFYING ON FASTLAP 97
              NASCAR 2

If you are qualifying at Taladega and you use the standard
WEAVE technique for heating your tires, without spinning the
car around or driving backwards.   You will use about 1.9 gallons
of gas with even a 3.50 gear.

If you do a NO NO and drive backwards up the track.
Totally ILLEGAL to turn 3 you will use 2.2 gallons and
if you drive all the way back to tuirn 2 you will use about
2.4/2.5 gallons.

Anyone that exceeds 1.9 gallons of gas on your ATTEMPTS
at TALADEGA will be considered an ILLEGAL lap.  In
case of a tie the person using the least amout of gas is
credited with the ranking..

Don Wilshe, IVGA

PS.    We will publish all the tracks and the legal gas
consumed for each track..

PSS.    These parameters will be enforced in the OFF-LINE
RACE 97 program that JOE FARR operates for the IVGA

After a year away from Nascar1, I just bought Nascar2 and was ready to
pull some Fastlaps when I noticed the 22 gallon load. What's with
this? The old version had us running with 2 gallons. can we not
override the Papyrus code for this?

I'm not complaining, but it sure has messed up my setups! I was
testing with the lighter load and getting up to the mid 195's and was
sure to see 196mph soon. With the heavy load, I'm back down to mid
194's.

I'm bummin.......

You answered one question (thanks) and I'm not suprised you didn't answer
the second question so I'll ask it again... will FASTLAP97 pick up cutting
through pit lane as a "no no" or can it be done?

Well, you can thank Bobby Labonte for his input on that.  If you haven't
noticed yet, N2 has changed a lot of things, fora 'more realistic' sim.
There's no override for it, so you'll just have to
live with it.

Charlie:

Good Question:

At this time we cant detect driving through the pits, but can you do
this on
NASCAR 2 and what improvements are you seeing.???  I know that
Taladega was fixed, but did PAPYRUS fix the wilkes where drivers
could cut down pit row.  Dont know if PAPYRUS cares about this
as they didnt fix it in MULTI either.  But I havent tested cutting the
pits on qualifying in N2.

Drivers:

Could you report any tracks that you can cut through the pits on
qualifying..

Thanks Charlie:

Winston Cup rule change for the 1996 season: cars now qualify at full
race weight (which now includes a full tank).
