Thanks for the great response to the first FASTLAP posting and you all
wanted some details.  We are providing this first set of information and
the remainder will only be sent out via our web pages...

Drivers:

Subject: FASTLAP 97 for NASCAR 2..

1). As you all know we had a very successful contest in 1996 to
determine just who was the World's
Fastest Qualifying Drivers for Papyrus's NASCAR 1. We had well over
200 driver participate. And these
results are published on our web pages.

2). The FASTLAP software for 1997 will be similar, except we will
not be collecting any information,
except lap time and auto type. We will validate the setups with
simple range checking to make sure you
setups are within the legal limits. We have lived and learned!!!

3). Our Conditions will most likely be: The Temperature will be 40
degrees as this will yield the fastest
speeds and the Winds will be zero. We will use the proper number of
laps on each track for qualifying so
dont expect to get 2 laps everywhere anymore.

4). We will also have qualifying contest with special setup
conditions that will be set by our program, i.
e., remove the restrictor plate for dega, EASY, FAST and ACE
Setups.

5). The FASTLAP 97 software will be sent to PAPYRUS so they can
validate that it operates properly. The
IVGA this year took all of its code and sent it to a third party to
develop the code and insure its integrity
     for you.

6). We need beta testers so contact me!!

7). If you want to talk about this either email me, email for a
chat appointment or call me directly in Cape
Coral, Florida between 9 am and 9pm Est, 7 days.. (941)
542-2140....

Thanks for your support of the IVGA!!

> If you haven't had enough responses for beta testers, count me in.

> Also, may I suggest that the temperature be set at 70 degrees rather
> than 40?  Mainly this is because not many races are held at such a low
> temps (pickup or otherwise).  It seems to me the NROS will strive to
> set temps for the official races to what the weather would usually be
> in such-and-such part of the country at such-and-such a time, and I
> don't think I've seen the temps stray that low for the real races.
> The reason this is important is people will most likely have to make
> adjustments to their usual setups to account for such a cool
> temperature, whereas with a temp of 70, most people's regular setups
> will be very close to being ideal for that temp, since a lot of people
> practice at a constant temperature of 70.
