Well, I haven't seen it announced here yet, but since it may be of
interest to several racing fans, here goes:

racesimcental) and Lakeside (the old Tasman series track, Lite version
available) have been released for GPL.

Both look great, and drive accordingly   ;)  And, maybe even more
important: both of these have evolved as superb community projects.

Be sure to give the authors a well-deserved big hand!  :)

Driving Indy in a Lotus is a blast!  Did a 52.96 just now.  A lot
of people however (including me) have reported frame rate
drops into single digits on the front stretch: look at the bottom
of page 4 of the thread in the GPL RSC forum for some fixes.
AI has some problems wrecking in turn 2, however (then again
they always have problems on ovals it seems).

The default path is C:\Sierra\GPL but yours may be different. You are
installing the Standard version first aren't you?  and then drop the hi res
mips into the indy67 directory if you want them.
Sid.

Barbara (and Timmy):

As far as I can tell, this is not a stand-alone installation; it is an
upgrade of the modern Indy derived from NASCAR Racing (yclept "ims").  If
you have the earlier version of the Speedway installed, you just drop the
new files into that folder (they don't replace any existing files; they take
precedence over those in the .dat file).

An Aussie F2 league raced at lakeside a few weeks ago (when it was still a
beta), and it rocked. You guys should check it out!

Sounds like you downloaded the HIRES zip file.  If that is the case, it
doesn't come with an installer.  You MUST download the "standard" Indy67 zip
file first.  That one DOES come with an installer.  Simply unzip the
contents of Indy67.zip somewhere on your drive, and run trackinstall.exe.
It'll prompt you for your GPL location, if different from the default.

It will then create an Indy67 folder.  Once the install completes, you then
simply extract the files from Indy67_hires.zip into the Indy67 folder.

Does this process work with the "voodoo" version as well?...er, since I'm
using a voodoo 5?

The Highres Indy67 track will ***a V5 card with it's oversized
textures.  Get the standard with framerate patches (=lite), or Voodoo
specific version.  My V5 runs the 'lite' track great.

Also worth the DL are Remy's voodoo-specific textures:

Well, half-right, anyway.  The hi-res ver is an upgrade of the "Indy67"
track, not the "ims" track.  Oddly enuf, when I dropped the former's hi-res
files in my "ims" folder, the miscegenation worked fine, but when I
installed Indy67 and then installed the appropriate hi-res files, the whole
thing crashed (or, rather, froze), and just when I'd got on the pole, too,
durnit!  Anybody else having this prob?

I got the voodoo specific version and patched it with the link you
provided....only now I'm getting freeze-ups.
So I reinstalled the track again over-writing the patch and no more freezes.
Haven't tried the Lite yet. Think it will make a difference?

Try it and let us know....  ;)

Seriously, I don't know.  Freezes can supposedly be caused by a number
of problems, many seem to be driver/system specific.  I'd say the Lite
version is worth the download.
