burnout demo

I just got the demo and I would like to know, is there anyway to race
anyone?  The computer included?  The only way I found to even drive a
car is to go to the test track.  Even then I get dq'ed.  I can't get the
tree to start.  I don't know how to do it, I am not a real drag guy I
prefer circles :-).  But maybe this game can make me a fan.  I also
can't get my t2 to work does it in the demo?  Thanks alot.

I haven't played the demo, but your T2 should work fine. Be sure and
press the 'reset' button in the Burnout joystick calibration before
calibrating.

To start the light, ease your car S-L-O-W-L-Y forward until the
'staged' light is on, then hold the brakes. The tree will start and
finally go green.

is to go to the test track.

Correct, no opponents in demo.

Edge forwards veeeeery slowly (use the distance meter in the bottom right of
the screen), the prestage lights will come on, go a little bit more then the
stage lights will come on, hold it on the trans-brake (space bar, I think)
then watch the lights and GO!!!

Demo only lets you use keys, not as it matters as the setup is awful, you
only need the keyboard to control it :(

I would like to thank everybody who responded to me.  I figured out how to go
after I went back and tried it again.  I wish I could race some other cars, but
oh well.  Maybe when I get some cash I will get this interesting title. Thanks
again every one.
And check it out only one post this time.
