device? I don't see N2002 listed at the Act Labs site as having direct
support.....and while you can get it to work in N2002.....you can get
"neutral" to be recognized (at least I can't figure out how). Any feedback
on this from AL?

I think you need to set it to H-pattern to get the car to go to neutral each
time you move the stick out of gear....

Gerry
As for the 'heel and toe' question, it really is a matter of personal style.
A lot has to do with the background they have in racing. Many of the racers
who started out in karts and graduated to road racing will left foot brake
(ala Tony Stewart). This is largely because karts help you to develop the
feel in the left foot that you need to properly modulate the brakes. Road
racers are generally a lot smoother at shifting and have had plently of
experience to develop the necessary feel for braking as well. Other drivers
who have grown up racing stockcars during their career will tend to right
foot brake (ala Rusty Wallace and Ricky Rudd) since they haven't developed
the feel in the left foot; and have the left ready to engage the clutch
should they get spun around. It can be learned but like anything it takes a
fair bit of practice.

Has anyone gotten the USB shifter to work with this sim? Whenever I try to use
the shifter, I can put the car in gear, but when I give it throttle, it's as if
the brakes are fully locked. In other words, the car looks like it tries to
move forward (it lurches a few inches) but is stuck in place. When in neutral,
I can rev the throttle, but once in gear, I can't.
My system has an LWFF on ID#1, the Shifter on ID#2 and TSW pedals on ID#3. OS
is Win98SE.
If anyone has the shifter working in NR2002 (especially if you're using
multiple controllers), I would appreciate your posting your specific settings
-- both within the shifter utility and within NR2002.
BTW -- This set-up works perfectly in GPL.
Thanks.

Good luck

At least I never got it to work.

Did you know that N4 & 2002 have more than one calibration screen?
Sometimes a controller will not be on the first screen and you'll have
to scroll to the second or third to see it.
Gerry
Thanks for your reply. I tried it without activating the shifter utility, but I still
can't get it to work. I'm hoping that you can provide a bit more advice, as you were
the only one who was able to help me with my pedal config problem in Rally Trophy
(which DOES work well with the RS Shifter, and my controller configuration BTW).
Back to NR2002: It seems that whenever I have the GPL USB Shifter activated as a
controller in Device Manager (with or without activating the Shifter utility), my
brake pedal becomes non-functional. It won't even calibrate. This happens in both N4
and NR2002. ..And it doesn't matter whether I have it set at sequential shifter or
H-pattern. I have to "disable" the HID-compliant controller (the USB Shifter) "in
this profile" (in Windows Device Manager) in order to make the brake pedal become
functional again.
Once again, I have the LWFF on ID#1, the GPL USB Shifter on ID#2 (when activated) and
the TSW pedals on ID#3 in Win98SE.
Any thought would be appreciated.

The shifter must be interfering with ID#2, so if the LWFF in there it
won't matter if it's brake or throttle are screwed. LWFF runs fine on
ID#2, BTW.
