I managed to snag the demo before avault.com took it off the site.  I
ran it on a AMD K6-200/Monster 3D machine without a problem.  The
graphics are much, MUCH, better than the previous demo.  With full
detail maxed out for everything, it was still fairly smooth (I'd guess
over 20fps at all times).

As far as the other improvements, many of them are evident and very
cool.  But.....the car handling still seems very funny to me, just as it
did in the first demo.  The car seems very twitchy at high speed, and
very difficult to keep on the road (which seems way too skinny, BTW)
when you are going fast.  The slower speed handling seems much improved,
but I can't imagine going wheel to wheel at high speed when you can't
even keep it on the road w/ no other cars on the track!!  Perhaps I am
missing the trick to setting up the steering ratio, etc. in setup, but I
fiddled with all the settings to no avail.

Overall, it is very cool, and I will likely buy it, but the handling
quirks need to go away before I do!

They (the makers of this game) explained that this is caused by
'weird' car setup values in the 3dfx version that got out. That's why
they didn't want people playing it.

I found that if you increase the downforce in the demo, the handling gets much
better.  I do hope that the game is less twitchy when it is released.
