Verite and Cyrix 686 DMA debate

by John Hop » Mon, 30 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I own a Cyrix 686 based computer and an Intergraph Reactor and am
extremely and completely content with it all.

The only thing that PISSES me off concerns Papyrus/Sierra with their
Indycar 2 and Nascar 2 games.  I have one simple question, why doesn't
the DMA enhanced versions of these two programs work on my computer?

VQuake, as far as I know, uses the DMA enhancement of the Verite card
and I have no problems with this program.  Tombraider, Verite version,
uses DMA as far as I know, and no problems.  Nascar 2 DMA enhanced
program runs on my machine, but my controls refuse to work (this
includes every controller you can think of).  And Indycar 2 DMA version
refuses to work at all.

If this is all correct, isn't it Papyrus/Sierra's perrogative to fix the
problem and to stop blaming the Cyrix 686?

____
If anything is incorrect, PLEASE correct me and not flame me.
This is my opinion and my opinion only.

Try the Cyrix Optimizer program: 6x86opt.exe.  I've heard people with
P166+ being able to run Indyfast with it.  I'm not sure where you can
get it though.
