Got a new mother board-cyrix686-150...I've seen a patch for nascar2 for
the 686, is this really needed and what does it do?

No. As a matter of fact I don't think that the program will even run
with this 'patch' (if it is the program found at The Pits). I'm
referring to the 686_P(or something like that) program that makes your
computer think that you are running a Pentium.

Nascar 2 uses some Pentium exclusive routine(s) and if your computer
reports your Cyrix is a Pentium, N2 will try to execute the Pentium
routine(s) and crash.

I have some info at my site's FAQ http://www.kiva.net/~akh/simshop.html
, and also there is also a link to a Cyrix Upgrade page which has some
'optimizer' programs you might want to try.

I have a Cyrix myself...a P150+ that I overclocked to a P166+...no
problem even with heavy usage...

Good Luck,
Alan

I have the sam chip and have never used the patch.  The game works just
fine.  Maybe you should try it.  Please let me know if it makes the game
faster
