Can someone tell me how to find out if N99 is using my Monster 3DFX card.  I
haven't been able to tell any difference in the sim since loading it.  Is there
something in particular that only shows up in the 3DFX mode (that doesn't in
regular software mode)?

Thanks,

I have a Voodoo2 card, and when the game is starting, the 3dfx logo
appears.

Nascar99 is nothing else but Nascar2 with some more tracks and
race-modes.
Nascar2 is more than 2 years old and was NOT famous for great graphics.
So I think, there aren't big differences with or without 3dfx.

Have fun

That's right, with the 3dfx version, you got blurry (Russian?) wall
graphics, cartoonish smoke and horizontal lines across the screen when
anti-alias was turned on. But at least they were able to keep that way-cool
graphics pop-up in the 3dfx version :-)

Yep, plus the performance was not that great. N3 is different IMHO as
papy seems to have done 3dfx the right way...

THAT's the answer he was looking for!

WHAT?!  No difference?  Take out your 3Dfx card and run it
again and tell me there's no difference... It's a HELLUVA difference.
Chances are if he's not able to discern any difference, he doesn't
have the .dll in his N99 directory.
I gotta agree with Greg, though: N3 is a HUGE improvement on
the 3Dfx graphics part!

Gunner,
I think you are correct.  In looking throught the CD and comparing 3dfx.exe's I
noticed mine was different.  So I copied the one from the CD to my hard drive,
and now when I load it, it says i'm missing a .dll.  Can you tell me which .dll
I need and possibly where I can get it?

Thanks in advance,

Couple of things: first off, too bad you're a Packer fan
(LOL!).
You're email problems are most likely because you're mail
server settings are wrong.  Don't know who your ISP is, but you need
to confirm your outgoing and incoming email server settings.
Obviously your outgoing server is set right, but your INcoming is
wrong.  It can't be a problem with their server, becuase you CAN send
mail.  Let me know your email program, your incoming and outgoing mail
server CURRENT settings, and who your ISP is and we'll fix that
problem.
Now, I'm at work so I can't VERIFY this, but I'm pretty sure
the 3Dfx.exe file is actually a setup program - not a file to copied
in its entirety to your drive.  Try double-clicking on it and see what
it does - it should extract some files.
        Hope that stuff helps!

Ok guys,

I think I was very wrong supposing that there is no big difference with or without 3dfx,
and I'm very sorry and ashamed about that :-(

But: I bought the game a few weeks ago, and I wasn't very impressed by the graphics. Maybe
I really miss this .dll Don mentioned, cause the only .dll in my N99 directory is
smackw32.dll, and that doesn't look like 3dfx stuff. I would be glad to hear more about
that .dll.

Thanks & have fun

Werner,
I put the glide2x.dll in my sierra\nr1999 folder and I got passed the .dll file
problem by running the nascar~1.exe file through DOS.  But now I get a failed
rasterizer problem.  I was told by Sierra to re-load the game and choose
Windows95 Rasterizer at the end.  I did this, and get the rasterizer error with
the nascar~1.exe and nr19993d.exe.

Any help on the rasterizer problem (or an explanation of rasterizer) would be
greatly appreciated,

Gary Beard
