N2 3DFX and shortcut settings

In my start menu, I created a shortcut that executes the nas3dfx.bat
file.  That .bat file sets environment vars, then runs nas3dfx.exe
program.  I made all the suggested DPMI, screen, etc changes to the
shortcut on my start menu, but I notice that there is also a nas3dfx
shortcut to ms-dos file in my n2 directory.  My question is... When I
use the shortcut on the Start Menu which runs the batch file, is the
other shortcut to ms-dos for nas3dfx used at all when the batch file
runs nas3dfx.exe?  And if so, which DMPI, screen, etc settings go into
effect?  The ones in the original Start Menu shortcut, or the ones in
the nas3dfx shortcut that is in the n2 directory?
