Intel CPU'S Price cut?

by Richard Busc » Mon, 05 Aug 1996 04:00:00

I've read here that Intel is supposed to cut there prices. Does anyone
know when? Will all the overdrive processors be cut? How much will the
price cut be?
I'm going to buy the overdrive for the 486, but I'll wait until the
price cut if anyone knows when that will be.

Thanks in advance,  RB

Intel usually lowers their chip prices 4 times per year (February, May,
August, and November).  In August, the prices for Pentiums will be
dropping more than Intel's usual 25-40% price cut.  These proces will
then stay the same until the next price cut in February, skipping the
November cut.

Currently, a quality Pentium motherbard only costs $150-200, and a
133Mhz CPU is in the $250 range.  These prices will be dropping
shortly.  Why get an overdrice processor, when after the price cut for
about $400 you can get much better performance?
