Guillemot vs. Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel

by Marc Collin » Mon, 19 Nov 2001 12:18:02

I recently found out that the TM Ferrari wheel, despite its appearance, is
not just a rebadged Guillemot Ferrari.

The internals are dramatically different and the pedals are different, too.
No secondary paddles for when the pedals are disconnected, either.

I assumed this meant it was some cheapo knock-off of the original, but some
claim it is actually better.  Slotweak is going to have a full comparison
review soon, but what do others know?  Who has tried or owns both?  What
exactly are the differences and which is better in your opinion.

As usual, the corporate sites are useless for figuring this out.

Thanks,

Marc.

Guillemot IS Thrustmaster.  They bought TM a while back.  I don't think
there is a difference.  Anyone know for sure?

Guillemot vs. Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel

Allegedly there is an older version & newer. This comment came from
the folks at Guillemot aka Thrustmaster. I keep 2 here at all times but I
beat the ***out of them too....Ouch! I always have one I am using &
another new in the box! When one goes bad{and I only had one go in
2years now} I ship it back to Guillemot for a new one with no hassles!

Guillemot vs. Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel

I think the wheel with the different pedals is a new cut-down wheel.  Also I
think Guillemot and Thrustmaster both offer the original wheel with the
white pedals, under the Guillemot name in europe and under the TM name in
the US.  Both wheels are on the TM US site.

Did you read my message?  I am well aware that Guillemot purchased TM--that
was the point of why I thought it would just be a re-badge.  It isn't.

Guillemot vs. Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel

There is an "older" and "newer" version of the original Guillemot--you can
tell by the different clamping mechanism.  I am talking about a dramatic
difference between the two "current" Ferrari models.

Guillemot vs. Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel

Really, where?  I only see one Ferrari FFB wheel on the US TM site--and it
has quite different pedals (all black plain looking) from the silver
"drilled" look pedals of the original Ferrari wheel.
