I just bought Tantrum's NHRA drag racing and had a few thoughts to share
about the game. I still have no firm opinion of the game as I haven't had
that much time to play with it since I bought it.
1. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous. I really like the way this game
looks. Very good job Tantrum!! Would like to see a 800x600 mode though...
2. Controls are a joke. I have yet to get my joystick to work with the
game properly and playing a driving sim with a keyboard is just not very
satisfying. And no, I haven't tried my T2 after reading there is no pedal
support for throttle and brake. Like I said, I haven't spent a bunch of
time yet, but futzing around in arcade mode, if the car goes into a
wheelstand, you can't pedal out of it. It's all or nothing on the throttle.
3. What's up with these load times? 45 seconds to load for each pass?
This is crazy!!! This is the reason I haven't been able to mess with the
game much yet. And no, I am not running a P133 with a 4x CD ROM drive. I
have a fairly new PII 266 with a 32x TEAC and an Ultra DMA Hard drive. It
doesn't take this long to load levels in Unreal or Q2. If anyone out there
knows of a fix for this please let me know.
I will keep the game in hopes that Tantrum will fix it like Bethesda fixed
Burnout. If they don't however I will not buy another of their products, as
I feel most of you in this NG won't either. If anyone knows of where to
look for patches let me know.
Thanks,
Russ
Hope y'all enjoy the view of my taillights!!!!!!!!!!!!!
