Video card for N3, NL, GPL

Hi all!

I need to buy a card today(my old Voodoo1 is done)

I'm not looking for the best, with newest features(I can't wait for the
upcoming V4 / V5 's, I need one today)...     :)

My logical choice would be the "3DFX VOODOO3 2000 16M"(affordable and
good enough until I upgrade the PC in 3-4 months), but it seems to be
B/O evrywhere in Montreal(QC, Canada)...

What I found available today in stores, that was priced nicely, and
relatively powerful was:
Diamond VIPER 770 32M
&
CREATIVE LABS RIVA TNT-2 32M
(both with NVIDIAs RIVA TNT2 processor)

I know there are better & faster cards, but I need a card now, and I
can't find any V3's locally, plus these should be a big improvement over
my late V1...     :)

With appropriate drivers, I know the V3 is fully compatible with my
regular games.

* Will a RIVA TNT2 card work well with N3, NL and GPL ?

* Or will I be missing objects, mirrors, etc. ?(from what I've heard in
GPL)

* Will the frame rate be at least a little better than with the V1,
which still gives me near Max frame rate with almost everything On ?

Here's my system spec:

Abit BH6

64 SDRAM
SB AWE64  > (will change to an SB Live soon)
Win 98 (1st release)
DirectX 7  > (will upgrade to DX7a)

Thanks very much!

If you just were asking about N3 or Nl, I'd say go for the TNT's but
if GPL is your game as well, then a Voodoo is the one.  You can run gpl
with the beta but you'll be back asking about mirrors and update rates
blah blah blah...get a voodoo 3 3000 if you really want to upgrade your
vid card.

I am using a TNT2 Ultra vid card 32 mb ram with GPL and no problems with
mirrors or anything. Someone posted info on how to solve the mirror problem.
My framerate with 19 AI cars, full graphics options  and 1024 x 768 res is
around 20-24 fps. This is on an Athlon 500 system with 128 mb ram.

cheers

cars, all options on detail slider 50%.

You're right my frame rate is too low :(

I am working on my opengl settings and it is getting better. I will post my
results and what the settings are to improve the frame rate as soon as I
have finished a little more trial and error.
