I have had some problems with my pedals for the LWFF.
I have disassembled it to clean the pot's, and thats why this
question...
The pot's are 250Kohm...Somewhere I have read that a good pot for pedals
are 100Kohm? I s it a good idea to change them?

Another thing...i could see, that the max. movement for the acc and the
brake pedals on the pot is abvout 15-20%....anyway to increase this? Or
is the only way to make a "gearbox"?

100K only applies to pedals connected to a standard gameport (it's the value
those were designed for), not to the ones in "digital" wheel/pedal combo's
like the LWFF, where the position of the pots is digitized before it is sent
to the computer.

Anyway, as far as my knowledge of pots in LWFF pedals reaches, it should be
ok to mount any "reasonable" value of pot (say between 10K and 1M) as long
as it's a linear type and the mechanical travel is nearly the same as the
original. I can recommend Bourns 91-series Cermet type potmeters, which are
very precise and durable.

You must take care to mount them so the pot rotates towards the end of
travel where the brown wire is connected.

Because of the way they work it's not possible to increase the range of the
LWFF pedals. I think you may be on the low side with your estimation of
effective travel, however. As far as I can tell, 2/3rds of pot travel is
used.

I have posted a webpage on how the LWFF pedals work and a workaround for
connecting 3rd party pedals whose travel doesn't match that of the LWFF
unit.

Perhaps it can be of use to you.

Cheers,

Jan.

Hi Jan and thx for the info..:) and thx for the url...:)
Last night i reconnected the wheel/pedals to the PC, but my prob's was
not solved...It might be the wheel pot's, that gives the "on/off"
feeling...tonight I will disassemble it and spray some "contact-60" in
it...
The driving feeling at the moment is much better in the old LW (black
one)..connected to the game port:(
Maybe I go buy a momo..:)
