GPL Voodoo I Problems

GPL Voodoo I Problems

I asked a similar question last week and didn't get much response, so
I'll try again now that more people have had a chance to play this
amazing game....

Here is my problem...

I get blocky graphical garbage on the screen when driving on various
tracks.  Some are worse than others, but each track I have tried has the
problem.  The blocks look like background (trees, fences, sometimes just
colored squares).

This doesn't happen in other games.

Here is my system:

ABIT IT5H w/AMD K6 200 MHZ
Diamond Viper V330 4 meg
Diamond Monster 3D 4 meg
Sound Blaster AWE 64

I have had the problem at all 3DFX resolutions supoorted by my card.

I am using Windows 98 with Direct X 6.0 installed.

I have tried the current Diamond drivers (1.1), the Windows 98 drivers,
the current 3DFX referecne drivers.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Could the Monster be going bad?

I don't know if this will help you, but I had the same problem in N2,
without a 3d card. It happened after a while of driving, say 10-15
minutes. I would guess that there is a problem with your 2D card; a new
driver fixed the prob for me.

Good luck,

Matthew K.

I think you need to have the latest Voodoo drivers for your card.  I have a
CL Voodoo 2 and when I installed the game, I had big black patches all
around.  When I updated the Voodoo 2 drivers, the game was perfect.

Me too. The reference drivers also cure other problems in other games,
Paul
