I have a Matrox Mystique 2MB (and an AMD K6-200), is this less than the game
requires as I don't get to choose resolutions and although the game is fast the
res. appears to be 320x200. Do I need more video memory?? Jedi Knight runs at
512x384 quite happily and chugs a bit at 640x480. I seem to stand more chance
of getting an answer here than I do from Codemasters imaginatively titled
'Customer and Technical Support', perhaps they should check their mail
occasionally or answer the phone both the messages I sent can't have got lost!
Any help greatly appreciated..

Any card with two meg video ram + supporting 8bit textures (like the
Mystique) will be limited to a screen resolution of 320x240 on TOCA.
Two meg of video ram may seem like a lot, but into that space you have
to fit:

(640x480 mode)
1 front buffer  :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
1 back buffer   :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
1 16bit z-buffer        :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
texture space...        :1 meg            = Oh dear, out of ram...

It's an all or nothing thing with 3D cards - you either use the card
and it's video ram or you don't use the card.

I would guess Jedi Knight is just managing to sqeeze into 2 meg with
512x384 but uses software rendering for 640x480?

Roll on AGP...
