Any card with two meg video ram + supporting 8bit textures (like the
Mystique) will be limited to a screen resolution of 320x240 on TOCA.
Two meg of video ram may seem like a lot, but into that space you have
to fit:
(640x480 mode)
1 front buffer :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
1 back buffer :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
1 16bit z-buffer :640x480x2(16bit) = 600k
texture space... :1 meg = Oh dear, out of ram...
It's an all or nothing thing with 3D cards - you either use the card
and it's video ram or you don't use the card.
I would guess Jedi Knight is just managing to sqeeze into 2 meg with
512x384 but uses software rendering for 640x480?
Roll on AGP...
