There is a blindspot and a ***y big one it is as well. I did an experiment
with M. Barlow tonight. He sat on the straight while I drove past him slowly
using the look left button. When he went out of view, I drove another 30
yards or so before he came into view in the mirrors.
What I did not determine at the time was whether his car was clear of mine
at the point of him disappearing from the look left view. I propose to give
it another try, this time driving into the direction of the other car on
full lock at the point of losing it from view. This will prove / disprove
once and for all the effectiveness of the side views as a totally reliable
tool for collision avoidance. I will report back here later with my
findings.
