Rick, if your using Netscape 3.0 just hit the little diamonds (they
should disappear) beside the threads you dont want
and go into options, click on "only read messages unread" and it will
sift alot of unneccessary ***you dont want,
Good luck!  -David Gary

What an original signature.  Why must you trash what you don't understand?

Yep, how to be a smartass is 100 lines or more.  And you reposted the whole
thing.....

Just an observation.

Yep, that's what it was.

Well, I have to admit, Win95 is a lot better than 3.11 was. Especially on the
crashes-part of the thing. I've been putting it through a test once, I started
Transport-tycoon (DOS-game), Civilization II (Win3), a PCB-design program (Win3),
Netscape (3.01Gold : browser, mail, news, 2x editor), Quicktime with ongoing movie
and some other stuff and still Win95 didn't give a rattle about it.

Maybe my brain is in my ass. But then I wouldn't *be* a smartass but *have* a smart ass. :-)
                                                                                          |
                                                      !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ______/

Anyway, it wasn't meant to be totally sarcastic. Well, I'll give a descent reply right here,
wich I'm not also posting at it's right place, as a reply to Rick Thompson's posting.
There is no way of making everybody happy. There are people who just want to see postings
about one sim (like Rick on Nascar), and there are people who want to see all or most
postings. If RAS would be splitted up, the latter would need to run around between news-
groups, so there would be complaints from them. Adding to that are the new RASers. What ever
kind of sim, racinggame, controller, or other stuff they have, RAS is the place to be.

And about having to download all the threads : I've tried MS IE 3.01 myself, and *I* don't
like it. I started out using Netscape, and I think that's why. It looks a lot better and it's
a lot more userfriendly. On the other hand I know some guys who currently use IE 3.0 , but
as soon as they saw Netscape... . In IE 3.0 you indeed have to download every message to
mark them as read. You can adjust the time IE waits before marking as read to zero, but
still you have to download the message. In Netscape on the other hand you can simply click
away the green dot to mark a message as read, the message is not downloaded then.
And ofcourse there are other newsreaders which allow things like kill-file's. (Which by the
way will also be in Netscape Communicator, the followup of Navigator).

Checked my posting. Including the quote and signature it was 46 lines.

And here it comes again :-) :

Can't your newsreader filter the GP2 stuff out.

Why don't you try MicroPlanet Gravity (Shareware) at
ftp://microplanet.inter.net/pub/microplanet/grav101.exe

ryates.

myself, and *I* don't
lot better and it's

I use MSIE 3.0, and I chose it over Netscape.  Just like the idea of using
the integrated package.  News, Browser, Mail...

kill-file's. (Which by the

I guess you guys are doing something different than me.  The version of
MSIE that I use does NOT require that I download all the messages prior to
displaying the headers.  It does DL the headers, but that's all.  To mark
it as read, simply right click on the message, then left click on ' Mark as
read '.   Or, just highlight all the messages you want, then mark them as
read, unread, or whatever,  downloading not required.  Yes, you have to
download it prior to reading it, but that is all.

This is what I mean about people knocking a program they simply do not
understand.  If you don't like / use it, fine.  That's your choice.  But to
say it isn't any good simply because you don't understand how to use it is
unfair.
