CPR Improved D3D??

by Mikes Design » Mon, 12 Jan 1998 04:00:00

 Hi all,
I was just wondering if anyone with the STB velocity card has tried CPR
with the final patch and noticed less flashing in D3D mode?
The reason I ask is, today I added 32MB more Sdram to my system total of 64
now and it seems to have almost no flashing in D3D mode. I am trying to
figure out if it was the patch or Ram or both? It still has a little
flashing but barely. Also Ive noticed the flashing is much better( less)
the more effects you have on? Thanks, Mike

Hi there, even after the patch I still had flashing with my Total3d 128v.
Canopus just released new drivers for my board and all flashing is gone now.
Must have been a driver problem for the Total3d 128v.

Just wondering, what kind of Velocity card you have?? Velocity 3d or Velocity
128, i think that 128 will be much better in the CPR because it is a much
faster card at winbench. 128 also have more 3D enhancements.

Does anyone know whether these will run on the STB Velocity 128?

My P300 still flashes like no tomorrow, but some tracks are worse than
others.  Tracks to avoid in hardware mode:  Laguna Seca, any oval,
Long Beach, Toronto.  Tracks which look okay: Mid-ohio, Portland,
Elkhart Lake.

As far as I can tell, this is definitely a driver problem. The flashing
was there also with the earlier Diamond Viper V330 drivers but was
completely fixed by a later driver release.

Hey thanks Annti,
Now I am wondering, in the December Issue of Boot magazine they tested both
the V330 & the STB velocity. They said that these 2 cards were so similar
that they could even run each others drivers! Hmmm I wonder if I should
hehehe, I will let you know if I do 8-)
Aloha, Mike

If you do, get the 1.14 and not the 1.15 Turbo. The 1.15 turbo
version has this GDI acceleration caper that is supposed to speed 2D
acceleration but I am sure it has a negative effect on 3D performance.
After initially getting 1.15 I installed 1.14 and F1RS came to life.
Free resources went from 82/83% to 95/96%.
