Need SCGT Help!!!!

by PQT2 » Wed, 05 Jan 2000 04:00:00

Just reinstalled SCGT after a reformat and reinstall and now I can't get it
to work.  All other games work fine.  When I get to the first screen where
you must choose Career Mode, Career Mode , or Multiplayer the "OK" button
will not work.  The letters (OK) are blacked out.  This sim worked fine even
with all the add-ons before.   How can I fix this?  thanks, Paul

Maybe I should be more clear.

Unless you create a new player (or select an existing one) on this screen,
the options will remain greyed out.  It sort of seems like you should choose
career (or whatever) and then it would ask you to create a player or which
player to use, but it doesn't work that way.

Just why in the hell would I want to create a new player, it just might make the sim
work!!!!!!!  ;-)  I'll bet that if I had read the manual I would have overlooked
this simple fact also! Sometimes I'm a real dumb shit. Thanks for the help,  Paul.

Need SCGT Help!!!!

This is where you have to sweat the details.  Little things like
which version of DirectX are you running now that you have reformatted.
same controllers?  Your sound and video drivers may or may not need
updating.  Have you installed the 1.551 patch correctly?  two files need
to be placed not in the main folder but in..I beleive...the mas folder.
Sorry I can't be more precise, I haven't seen this problem from SCGT
users before....
One thing to remember tho...folks remember when users *** at them
after trying to help..  Daxe may have advice that could help you in the
future, I doubt he will be willing to pass it on tho...  You wouldn't
believe how many posts we have on RAS where seemingly desparate people
overlook something as simple as choosing a driver, or creating a new one
would be preferable.  i.e. somebody in GPL downloaded a bunch of nifty
sounds and couldn't get any of them to work, spent hours re-dloading,
re-installing, re-patching etc.  His problem?  He had chosen an F2
driver instead of an F1.  So if someone gives you what seems to be a
"simple" even moronic bit of advice...try this...
"Nope, already did that, thanks for the effort."
here endeth the lesson

Actually, I thought he was saying I DID help him?  It's so hard to tell
sometimes, not being able to communicate inflection in BG posts and all
that.  What sayeth you, PQT2?

Well, I certainly thought I said thanks for the help and at the same time poked
a little fun at myself for overlooking the obvious solution to my problem.  Paul
