They are fabulous.  Who drove the Eagle?,  Which model lotus is the blue
one, J. Siffert?

Thank you, Chaz.  I particularly like the couple of shots of the Lotus 38
(#83) as driven by Jim Clark to victory at Indy.  Do you happen to know if
this is a the same car (I think, at one stage, it was in the Ford museum in
the USA) or is it a type 38 that has been given the #83 used by Clark?

That may just be the Rob Walker privateer Lotus, certainly a Model 49, a
"-B" I believe, which was the last privateer car to win a Formula 1 race.

There's a story on that race in a recent (the most recent?) issue of
MotorSport.

Mark,

The Eagle was driven on Friday by Ben Liebert - Dan Gurney was down to drive
it on Saturday and Sunday. It's the sister car to the one he won at Spa in.

The blue Lotus is Rob Walker's one that Siffert won at Brands with in '68.

Cheers,
Chaz

Bruce,

I was informed by the guys with the Lotus that is was indeed the car that
Clark won in '65 with - chassis 38/3. It is also the chassis he drove in '66
to finish second to Hill. Which of couse was a much debated result....

And it sounds superb!

Cheers,
Chaz

Thanks Chaz....it brightens my day to know that Ford finally saw reason and
restored the car.  At one point it was in a fairly poor state of
preservation.  Nice to know that it is back AND running! :-)

Gurney drove the Eagle [atleast once i think] and the Lotus is a Lotus 49 in
Rob Walker team-colours.

I did :)

God, the 70's F1 cars look like midgets compared to today's, don't they?

Still, they are absolutely wonderful (ah, the memories...)
