Anyone with intimate knowledge know when NRO is going public?
Nascar 3 will be on the shelves before they ever begin NRO on Ten!
Perfect or not, let's get it on!

I think you got it. NASCAR 3 and NRO. What has been the
problem all along. NASCAR 2 is a DOS program and we need
WINDOWS 95 version for NRO/TEN. The reason i believe that
PAPYRUS has stopped work on NASCAR 2, as per, adam L, is
they must be busting ***trying to get NASCAR 3/NRO out
the door.. Who really knows????

Why?

Kali's limitation is that the host of the race is PROBABLY running via a
modem.
There is a bandwidth problem as well as latency.
In NRO it will just be latency.
Currently in modem racing the packets are transfered 15 times a second.
I don't think the internet will be able to provide the same kind of
performance.
To maintain 15 packets per second, your pings would have to be stable in
the 130 range. I don't see this working for too many people.
My pings to www.ten.net (right now) are in the 300 range, and I am using
Concentric as an ISP, 28,800 USR Sportster, P-166 computer, Win95 O/S.

Well I'm sure he's sick of all the lies and excuses about when it's going
to be available. Some say June others sayFall and still others say next
year.

I have a Nascar 2 icon on the desktop. Just click and its running. Same for
Nascar 1 and IRC2 also.

Nascar2 IS a DOS program. It runs in a dos box under windows.
Do we NEED a win95 version.. I don't think so..
Just because you have an icon on your desktop doesn't make it
a Windows program.
And finally "brilliantly"... If you only knew how much CPU
horsepower you losing up by running under Win95.
Don, what we probably would want is a way to access the TEN
servers while staying out of win95.

It running in DOS/4GW... Sorry, buddy but it aint no windows
program. The first line in the NASCAR 2 say it doesnt work
relaible in WINDOWS 95. You lucky
don
That could be a solution. But for all of us bird brains that bought
off the shelf computers, or win95 modems, that wont work. My modem
just wont work in dos at the typical settings dos multiplayer games
want, i.e. com 1-4 with Irq's lower than 7. I had to borrow a friends
modem for the short period I played on Hawaii. (Until my phone bills
got to high and the wife pulled the plug).

snip snip
You let your wife actually SEE the phone bills???
David Burton / Vetteracer on hawaii
Come on!
Like really this is productive.............start an argument with the
most influential man in history with respenct to NASCAR hacking
issues.......about whether or not N2 is a DOS app.

He wasn't arguing that if it was a Win95 or DOS app. Instead he pointed
out that N2 runs fine for most people through Win95, which is all you need
to play on TEN.
