Well I thought it was pretty obvious, he asked for a crack, so he needs a
crack, so he has a version which needs one, so ....... he's from europe!

It's not a question of putting in a copy protection just for the UK,
it's actually a question of putting it in every other version except
the US version.

it's a government ***, aliens are coming, and they see CD shapes as
some sort of weapon, now what papy figure is that if they keep CD's in the
drive, the aliens won't be able to get hold of them and mutilate us... oops,
sorry, i think i shouldnt of watched that film last night!

That's right! But, you know... the honest people in US would never even have
the idea of pirating the game, but us europeans... ;-)
I really don't know why every version of GPL except the US wants the CD
inserted.
BTW, does anybody know, where I can get the noCD patch for the german
version of GPL 1.1 ? (No, I don't want to copy it, it just gets annoying
having the GPL CD inserted all the time :-))

Yes, but do most people REALLY look at the sender's e-mail address? No, they
probably just see a fellow sim fan, and try to help them out. It's also
possible that some people don't know(or forgot) that the UK version needs the
CD to run...

p.s. Although I personally don't see whay ANY game still needs the CD to run.
With the proliferation of CDrom burners, this is a wasted effort anyway...
It's now just an ANNOYANCE to paying customers...

Ich glaub ich kann dir helfen (gpl-nocd-patch version 1.1).
Schnapp dir nen Hexeditor (HIEW z.b) und aender an der Adresse
00423516 (Offset 00022916h) den wert 74 15 auf 75 15 (jump equal auf jump not equal). Jetzt schreit er nur noch
wenn die CD drin ist.
