Sidewinder pro thumb wheel in Collin Mcrae

I have a question about the Microsoft Sidewinder freestyle pro gamepad
and the Colin Mcrae game.
I would like to use the thumb wheel on the gamepad as throttle but I
don't know how to set it up. Is it possible and if so, how ?
