I was thinking of buying collin mcrae racing. Is it worth it? I have been
playing gpl. What is the online racing like?

It's a good game. No where near as realistic as GPL. But it doesn't pretend
to be either. I think it's not as good of a game as Rally championship
(although that one is way old).
I have not tried the multiplayer yet.
The biggest thing I don't like about it is, you have to un-lock the stages.

Compared to GPL, it is not nearly as really realistic. But the
sensation of speed is excellent and overall I find the game really
enjoyable. It is great to go for a spin in CMR to relax :) after a
couple of hours stressing out driving in GPL!

Havn't tried it online...

Yes, it's worth it. As far a driving realism is concerned it doesn't
even get close to GPL, but it's certainly the best rally sim available.
The strong points of CMR are the moddeling of the different surfaces you
drive on (even more with FF) and the sence of speed. 100km/h on a narrow
gravel road is way more thrilling than 300km/h on the back straight!

In short, if you're looking for driving realism, don't buy it! If you're
looking for rally realism, don't miss it. Just DL the demo and decide
for yourself.

Okay, CMR isn't as realistic as GPL, but it's most definitely the most
realistic RALLY game there is! Winning at top level does take some practice!
The thing is: you can't compare GPL with CMR: who compares pingpong and
tennis? No one. They are different games. A rally car behaves completely
different as a Formula 1 car. It's a totally different game, but certainly
worth your money if you want a rally game. PLEASE forget about IRC: that's
crap. (Just as CR99 looks to become crap.)

How can you say that CR99 looks like it will be a poor game. Have you played
Rally championship (the one from '96)? That was a cool game. Rally99 looks
even better. Sure IRC wasn't a good game, but it looks like they (europress)
have learned there lesson.
It's way to early to say one way or the other, but you have to admit, it is
a beautiful game.

Hi,

I wrote a review for this on www.gamesdomain.co.uk .

You can't compare this to GPL. The two are poles apart - completely
different games. But in its own right, CMR is the most wonderful rallying
game I've ever played.

Online racing - good question. Have yet to try it (although IPX is a real
treat!). Anybody out there done so?
