GPL: Where's the Castle?

Or perhaps I should say Schloss.  I've turned several laps at the 'Ring
now, but I've yet to see the castle.  Perhaps I am not concentrating
enough on the scenery, but the Ferrari is a bit of a handful.  Can someone
let me know in which section I should pay attention, and to which side of
the road?

By the way, after reviewing the little mpg people mentioned last week
(in-car footage from a 60's vintage F2) I am quite impressed with Papy's
work.

Another thing from someone who is still relative to the 'Ring.  It's very
easy to spin in some sections, and lose the orientation for direction.
I've driven over a kilometer in the wrong direction, thinking "something
is really wrong here" until either the weird clipping gives it away, or I
go vaulting off a hill that wasn't there on the last lap!  What a great
track.  Wish I could crack the 9:00 mark.

Hi Steve
The castle is on the right hand side at the end of the long straight,
Here's a link to a view looking back down the straight from on top of the
castle. http://home.sol.no/~espenm3/pictures_t11_Anteniusbuche.html

What a great

Hehe, I thought the same thing several months ago, but i'm now running sub
8:20's. Just keep practicing, the first 50 laps are the hardest !<g>

Cheers Phil

It's somewhere to the right (and up!! One hell of a climb on foot!) of the
section between St. Antoniusbuche and Tiergarten, but I don't know if you
can see it from the track. We didn't go for a lap of the track as my mum
thought it too dangerous because of the motorbikes. I regret that to this
day, but I was too young to impose my will in this matter.

Don't remember seeing it in GPL either BTW.

If I remember correctly, the castle is on the right side, at the long
straight at the end of the track. But the bushes are in the way to see
it from in-car view, try to watch a replay from some different
angles...

Good luck beating the 9:00 mark, first time I succeeded in this, it
gave me a great thrill! Now I'm stuck at 8:41... What was the record
again: 7:57 or something like that? AAARRRRGHHHH!!!!

I had read somewhere that Papyrus did put it in.  Knowing them, they would
do that, and the only time you see it is if you vault over the hedges by
accident.

Here's a screenshot where you can see it (to the right in the pic):

As others have pointed out it's to the right when going down the final
long straight.

I think you can see it in the distance from the start of the long straight -
just to the right of where the road meets the horizon.

There are hedges on both sides, but if you keep left all the way, you should get
a glimpse of it from***pit view..

In fact I think it is easier to get a glimpse of it than beating the world
record (7:57)...

The proper german term would be "Burgruine" (ruined fortress).

And I think all relevant graphics options have to be turned on (track
objects, detail level etc.)

I feel like I have seen it on a different part of the track too (not just
the back straight).  Or a castle of some sort.

Hey... I learn something new every day!  The part of Switzerland I am
working in right now is full of old ruins.  Now I can correctly identify
them. (And I am not being sarcastic - it is nice to pick up new words from
all sources).

Besides the castle on the long straight, there is another white castle
like fortification. It is hard for me to explain where it is since I
dont know any of the corners, but the best I can describe it is to the
left when you go over a small bridge thingy I am guessing. It is a
tight left hand turn with white bariers on either side.

Just imagine that you are making your way through the tight track
surrounded by bushes on either side. You know the one, with the tight
chicanes so to speak. Well, the castle is to the left of the second
left hand turn after the series of esses surrounded by the bushes.

Hop[e that helps, though it probably doesnt.
