GP2 problems... Please Help.

by Sopurkh Khal » Thu, 27 Mar 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

I've had GP2 for a long while now.  It is the UK version (if there is a difference).  I had to delete it some time ago to make room for other things.  Since then I have installed a new 800 Mb Conners drive.  Also I have installed Linux on my other drive and use lilo to choose which OS I want to boot from.  Anyway I went to install GP2 and all seemed well until I tried to run the setup program.  It would not recognize my sound card at all.  It is a SB16.  I thought okay at least I can play the game.  I try to start it and it gives me the message "f1system.dat not found"  and kicks me to DOS.  I had no problems when I played it before.  I was wondering if anyone could help me out here.
I have a (*cringe*) 486DX2/66, 8mb of ram, and a 2x cd-rom.  Nothing I do seems to fix it.  I have tried from a boot disk and that doesn't help.  I run it from dos, but win95 is installed on my machine.

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Michele Losti

f1system.dat is the file that is created when you install the game. It
contains (I guess) information about your system relative to GP2. If it
said that it wasn't found, it sounds like not even your installation
completed successfully. Try to re-install it, perhaps.
As for your sound setup, I don't know what's the problem. But run setup
anyway and, if your SB16 is still not detected after you reinstall it,
select "No Sound", since a Sound.cfg file will be created in your sound
directory anyway.

Hope this helps a bit.
