GPL demo???

by Jeroe » Sun, 12 Sep 1999 04:00:00

Hi!

On various sites I read about a GPL demo which let's you race against
another driver on Zandvoort and Monza, in 2 different cars. But when I
donwload the + 18 Mb demo, all I get is the same 'old' demo on Watkins. The
only difference (apart from the size) is the version number (the old one is
0.0.5 and the new one 1.0.0 or something like that). Is there really a demo
as described above, or has every site copied the wrong infomation without
checking?

If you buy a copy, you can drive on 11 tracks, race online on all
these tracks, and get a copy of the book '4 wheel drift' for free!
With a demo you can how this game looks and plays. If you like it, buy
the full game.

By getting GPL as a gift, and installing it over the demo

actually it was the only way to get my voodoo 3 2000 to work

it wouldn't work on a fresh install of gpl

Please define the definition of troll?
I was unaware that trolls existed.

They do, look above ^^ .  I personally do alot of fishing, and we do use
alot of trolls.  The usenet term is from that, not from the imaginary
creatures living under bridges.  Please update your CART wishlist btw :)

Your post was unnecessary and was done in a way that promotes illegal piracy
of Grand Prix Legends.

We are both common posters to RAS and Papy motorsports.  You should know from
reading my posts that I have purchased, N1, Icr1, ICR2, N99, and GPL. Also
intend to buy N3 and NL.

Now onto my CART features sim list. It is pretty much dead, as Eric T. Busch
commented on it that basically it would never be done so why bother. If you can
convince me to continue with it I will.

1. How the hell can you turn the demo into a full version with all the
tracks legally?

2. Don't you think Papyrus deserves some money for this game?

To be clear or perhaps to confuse things even more, while I may have
commented that your feature list was perhaps a bit idealistic, I've
never made any direct comments or speculations with regards to
present/future product plans or lack thereof.  You made a fine list of
features you'd like to see in a CART sim.  However as I've said
previously, you need to ask yourself how many of those features are
truly vital to recreating the racing experience within the confines of
current PC technology and some finite span of development time and
money?  You can't have everything, so prioritize and compromise...

well guys, we have now heard the TRUTH from the head honcho. I will now repost
the CART feature list so that the CART fans of RAS can help me make a list the
Eric T. Busch would deem plausible, and thus can be seant to

Well I'm not the head honcho of anything, and I'm really not here to
tell you the TRUTH (whatever that may be) or to otherwise green light
the master feature list of some potential future sim.  I believe it
was on the Sierra motorsports board where you posted the list and
asked for my opinion to which I responded with my honest take on the
subject.  That said, it's still your list, so do with it as you
please.  It's perfectly fine to include anything and everything you
can possibly imagine that you'd like to see in the sim, but don't
expect to get everything.  Think about what you want, think about what
you need, then think about what you can get...

Talk of another CART sim in the works would be fantastic news!

I hope it comes true, and that it has all the GPL features, pit stops, all
the cars, and maybe even weather to mix up peoples settings on a day by day
basis.

I believe that it would be the developers responsibility to deem what
can be done and what can't, given their budget and schedule restraints.
Coming from a 'master' list such as this one and picking the most
appropriate material that THEY decide should be put in the game. It
shouldn't be used as an 'all-in-one' game list, but rather as a reminder
not to forget something if there are resources to implement it.
