On various sites I read about a GPL demo which let's you race against
another driver on Zandvoort and Monza, in 2 different cars. But when I
download the + 18 Mb demo, all I get is the same 'old' demo on Watkins. The
only difference (apart from the size) is the version number (the old one is
0.0.5 and the new one 1.0.0 or something like that). Is there really a demo
as described above, or has every site copied the wrong infomation without
checking?

I also wanted to see a straight answer to this since I like the GPL demo to an
extent, but I don't love it. I'd really like to try out another track and some
actual racing before deciding whether or not I want to buy it. And no, around
here in the boonies of the deep south there are no Best Buys and no bargain
bins and no copies of GPL for $10. If I want that I'm driving five hours to
Dallas or six hours to New Orleans. !!! :(

That's exactly what I mean. I'd like to see how my computer (and I) can
handle a start and afirst lap with a lot of cars onscreen. Driving around on
your own just isn't what this game is about, so the demo is not good: it
doesn't give you a good look at the full product. Well, hardly any demo
does, of course... Anyway, the demo looks nice, but control seems quit
difficult (just as I've heard!) so I think I'll have to pass (until it's
VERY cheap). Back to TOCA 2 (my favorite for almost half a year already...)
And don't tell me that's not a sim! I couldn't care less: I love it and
that's racing on computer what it's all about, isn't it?!

There was some post on a Canadian company I believe which had GPL in
stock for $14.95. Try deja.com.
As for TOCA2, I just played it, and its nice, but does not compare to
the precise control feedback you get with GPL. It's far better with
respect to control input -> car feedback.
If you are willing to try to get better, GPL has a great potential for
e***ment when you tame the beast (a bit). The force feedback is also
much better than with TOCA2.
I just played TOCA2, and it took me 15 minutes to become first (ok, it
was Novice). GPL is more challenging, but more rewarding.

With the spreadout starting grids and 10 AI drivers I get 36fps on the starts.
With 15 internet drivers I get 36fps on the starts too, since my PC is not
performing calculations for the AI.

The GPL demo has a full functioning replay system. FULL Fuctioning!!!
but u can only see races on the track that u have with the demo, but u can
watcha full race with all cars
TRUSRS85 said the replay mode is full functioning in the demo so you could
drivers.
