GPL latest demo vs. actual game ???

by J Huggin » Tue, 29 Dec 1998 04:00:00

After playing the first GPL demo on my P166 80meg V1000, I was somewhat
dissapointed, to say the least. But after giving the latest demo, on the
N1999 CD a try, the framerate increase was significant. So joy is me.
Now the question I have is, are all the tracks framerates similiar to
Watkins Glen. I know it will be unplayable with AI cars, but will it be
a good hot-lap sim until I can upgrade?

at the very least it will give you some seat time with the physics engine
which will power the next version of nascar from papy/sierra

All tracks will give you approx the same framerate as Watkins Glen. If
you find the framerate in the demo bearable, you won't be disappointed
by the performance of the full product. As you say, it will be a
hotlap sim, though. You might try to overclock your CPU to achieve a
better framerate. My iP166 runs happily at 2.5x100MHz, which makes GPL
much more enjoyable. :)
