gpl & n4... compatible?

by b » Fri, 17 Aug 2001 07:27:30

wonder if any of you have any words of wisdom?
my sys is a p3-500  256ram, voodoo4/5 32ram and runnning win98

installed N4... got a prob.

if i run it in openGL, i get about 7fps very choppy and that is
limited
to 20 cars, and most of the effects off. and thats at 800x600
basically not drivable.

if i switch to D3D, the frame rate jumps to 24, and i can turn some of
the effects on, and run at 1024x728!

so whats the prob? you ask... well i can't do a full lap ! i get
dumped back out to desktop every time, no matter what track. even if i
change resolutions.

and i've changed my VD4 card to be D3D or openGL for each test....

any ideas?

Well, D3D generally runs a lot faster than OpenGL.

Are you o'clocking your V4? Or cpu? If so, well...

D/l the latest drivers, dx8, etc.
