Looks like Voodoo II 3dfx cards will be out before the N2 patch. I still
think Papy has been waiting for their release. One reason could have been to
test the patch with Voodoo II for compatibility and framerate. Any thoughts?

Or maybe the 3Dfx patch won't run worth a damn (or not quite as well as
on Rendition cards) on Voodoo 1, but really cooks on Voodoo2, so they're
waiting for the cards to be released so that they can recommend the use
of the Voodoo2 cards as a "minimum requirement".

Or maybe it's just in the normal cycle of beta testing...

Na, it`s a ***, my aunts cousins uncle has a friend who works as
a cleaner at an office next door to Papys headquarters, and he has been
told that Papy thinks this hole 3Dfx idea is nonsense and is just
waiting for it to pass, and then they will release non accelerated games
with 16 colour graphics and only support the original AdLib
soundcards....

Just before Xmas, the word was the 3dfx patch WAS having speed problems.
They were doing some final work to improve that before handing it off to Papyrus.
The problem probably had to do with converting a graphic system designed for another
chipset into something the 3dfx could work with. For example dig back in dejanews
for reports of the 3dfx patch for I76. that was not very well received. In fact it
was so bad they have totally reworked the graphic system to handle 3dfx, Rendition,
and D3D rather than try and convert the existing system. I suspect the N2 patch
faced at least some of those same problems.
