What's the best force-feedback wheel?

So has there been any consensus on this? What's he best FF wheel? (If
I get one it would be for Viper racing.)

I'm leaning towards the Microsoft one becuase I loath the calibration
headaches associated with analog POTS. The optical readers just work
so much better. Is there any other wheel so good [for Viper] that I
should consider it despite this? Or are there others with optical
position readers?

I love my Wingman Formula Force wheel.  I didn't like the microsoft one because
my fingers would scrape against the base when I had them behind the paddle
shifters.

My vote goes to the MS FF too. Used to run GPL with a crappy (read: worn out)
Thrustmaster T2, arms flailing all over the***pit.  :-)
Now, with the digital input from the MS wheel, I can keep the car in a
straight line just inches from the grass edge doing 200MPH down the
straightaways at Spa.
No FF in GPL, but Viper Racing, Powerslide and NFS III all use it to good
effect.

OBTW, Viper Racing is great fun. You won't be dissapointed.

You might also like to consider the Saitek R4 FF wheel.  It is a MS SW FF
wheel but in a different package.  It has a separate gear stick as well
as paddles.  The wheel is squared off as well.  It's a matter of taste,
but I have this wheel and have been very pleased with it.

I don't think you could go wrong with the Act Labs Force RS, if Viper
Racing is the game you like.  The forces are very realistic with this
combination. It works well with most games, but especially Viper.
