Has it gone?  Can't see it on the listings this year at all. I know there
was a poor take up, but it seems rather early to be dumping it, doesn't it?

It was much like the option of buying rotten eggs, or organic rotten eggs.
Either way - it's just rotten eggs

OK Doug, but I really enjoyed it last year. Way over the top in terms of
pricing, but the service made a huge difference to the enjoyment of the
races.
Has it gone for good? Is there any other service in the pipeline?

I remember reading last Decemberish that it had folded, or Bernie pulled the
plug on it. Either way, it won't be back this year.
I never saw it, personally, I'm not a PPV kinda guy, so I don't know if it
was any good.

Sadly this was shut down after last year. Too bad as it brought F1 to
another level, you could always see interesting action throughout the
race. I've had it for three years and it was great!

However - Premiere (german PPV TV) are going to show some kind of
digital multichannel F1 this year. It looks as if they are financing
it themselves and will probably try to sell it to other PPV companies.
Hopefully the'll get C***Digital (scandinavian PPV) as a customer.

Cheers,

/Martin

Oh - if it had been available - I'd sure as hell have got it.

Hold on - at 12 - roughtly 2 - to 3x the average European price, I wouldnt.
I'd have told Bernie to stick it.

Thats why it failed in the UK.  The total market available was only Sky
Digital subscribers - and of those, most were never going to pay 12 a race.
It was just too much.

Hi all,

Once again, they try to make too much money in too short a time and end up
cancelling the service due to lack of interest. I wonder why. This always
seems to be the case in the UK. It's called greed.

I did hear in the press, however, that they were going to make the digital
feeds available to the terrestrial stations. Unfortunately, here in the UK,
ITV's record of interactive services is rather appaling. If the BBC were
showing it I think things would be different. You have only got to look back
to the world cup. The BBC's digital coverage was IMHO superb, ITV however
had no interactive content at all.

No - they're not even taking the hardware to each track that was used to
make the digital feeds

F1 magazine (the "official" one?)had an article that said they were
giving up on it and some of it was going terrestrial, as I recall.

In any case, here in Belgium the Canal+ pay tv does NOT include it in
its offer anymore. Many people and friends I know just took to pay tv
because of the F1 option. The Canal+ people said that they did not
have an agreement anymore with Ecclestone. I think it sucks big time.
Now all we can do is watch commercial tv coverage or national tv
coverage. Both are very much under par.  If Formula 1 is getting less
and less interest it is because of these schemes that Bernie pulls off
every time. The BBC had the best coverage ever before they took it
away from us.  If I have to watch boring commercial TV coverage I just
as well go to the track on Sunday to watch real racing (e.g.
telefonica World Series, Historic Grand Prix, Sportscars...).It is
less frustrating, I can tape the whole shit and watch it as I come
home, and the live events I mentioned cost far less than F1.

I am a disappointed fan, once again we pay the price for Bernies
greed.
