For W95 to recognize your controller you need to have at least 2 axis
connected,
and then set the game controller setup menu to the same amount of axis.
There are 4 axis available to use in PC controller ports that are connected
to 100k Ohm potentiometers.
These are Known as:
joystick 1 x-axis
joystick 1 y-axis
joystick 2 x-axis
joystick 2 y-axis
Usually in a 2 axis steering controller, joy 1 x-axis is used for steering
and
joy 1 y-axis is used for both gas and brake.
For a 3 axis controller you could use, joy 1 x-axis is for steering, joy 1
y-axis for
throttle, and joy 2 x-axis for brake.
If the game allows for a clutch then you can use joy 2 y-axis for clutch.
It doesn't matter which axis you assign to a control, however for example;
if you tell W95 game controller setup that you have a 2 axis controller
then W95 looks for the first 2 axis (joy 1 x-axis and joy 1 y-axis)to be
connected to
a potentiometer. If they are not, then W95 will say "not connected".
There are four buttons available that are for momentary on switches
and are "normally open". They do not need to be connected.
Here are the joystick port pins and their use
pin # use
1,8,9,15 +5 volt dc for any axis
2 button 1
3 joy 1 x-axis
4,5,12 ground for buttons
6 joy 1 y-axis
7 button 2
10 button 3
11 joy 2 x-axis
13 joy 2 y-axis
14 button 4
I hope this help you and good luck :-)
