N2 not running on an STB Velocity128 video card

by maps » Mon, 02 Feb 1998 04:00:00

On my Dell, which has an STB Velocity 128 card (with 4 meg of ram),
launching N2  puts my monitor to low-power mode, and the program
itself appears to be frozen, and I have to kill N2 with the task
manager. Any ideas how to get N2 to work? I worked fine on my old
computer.

I am running it through win95- but that wasn't a problem before.

Please post here- thanks

Reinstall N2 without the univbe driver.  That's what worked for me at least.

From sierra tech support bulletin boardt:

We have found on the Riva128 based video cards, when these
cards
switch to the vesa 2.0 mode, the card sets the refresh rate
to an
frequency that no monitor can support. The best way that we
have
been able to get the game to run is to run the game in DOS
mode
without the intro. If you do not have all of you drivers
loading for
DOS, you may need to contact the computer manufacturer to get
the
drivers loaded for the CD Rom, the sound card and the mouse.
Then,
install the game in DOS mode and run the game without the
intro. To
run the game without the intro file, run the nascar2.exe
instead of the
n2.bat. Please let me know if you have any further problems.
