I'm surprised that I haven't seen more discussion of this unique
driving game. It includes both rally racing an in interesting drag
racing component, two areas not covered by other PC games.

Being from Microsoft, I had low expectations for this game but was
pleasantly surprised. The graphics are first rate, a solid 3D engine
and environment. There are enough options that anyone with a Pentium
should be able to get good performance (I've left it at the default so
far and it works well). It looks like an ideal game for a 3D card -
does anyone know if it supports Direct3D?

The gameplay and driving feel are a little arcadish, but not too bad
(no where near as bad as Big Red Racing for example, which is just a
"floor the gas and steer" affair). It supports analog input, including
full support for my Thrustmaster T2 and it works well with it.

The rally racing is a lot of fun, because they've done a good job of
simulating various textures (road, sand, dirt, gravel, logs, water,
etc.). And the drag racing is surprisingly fun (it includes a couple
of "J shaped" drag racing circuits to make it even more challenging,
bothl based on real world tracks).

Another unique aspect is that this is the first PC racing game that
supports internet multi-player mode (as far as I know). I would have
thought this would generate a lot of interest alone (it was the kicker
that made me decide to buy the game). Has anyone tried this yet? Does
it work?

Yes it supports Direct3D but it does not utilize it very well.  Even on the
highly touted Voodoo cards, the game slows noticeably as the action picks
up on the screen.

Does the internet work? you bet it does and the racing is pretty good(alot
of regulars) I'm of couse talking about the Microsoft Internet *** zone
for MTM(not to mention other MS Games) You can run up to 4 a race and there
is a RealTime chat box also. If you want ot race more than 4 racers go get
your IP adress from within the game and give it to friends or vice versa
and you can race up to 8.  It's a greeat game with alot of room for addons
in the future. BTW I believe there coming up with a Track Pack for MTM
soon!

I've tried it, it's not bad (pretty slow at times - a lot of cars
jumping all over the place). I get quite a few crashes too (i.e.,
during the races) that I don't get when running it standalone.

I'm going to try Kali95 too, it might have a bit better performance.
